Cybersmart - Smart Footprint
This week in Room 7 the students are learning about what they can include when making an online profile.
Some of these things include activities and hobbies, different learning areas they are good at, or maybe even the pets they have at home.
These profiles will be part of their individual blogs.

Garden To Table Week 3
Room 7 has been busy in the garden today. The children were sieving the dirt from the compost, removing any large sticks or other foreign objects getting it ready for all of the new planters around the school. Lots of muscle power was required.
Whilst digging up the compost a student came across an avocado stone that had sprouted. It is now potted and taking up residence in Room 7 where we can care for it and watch it grow.

Parent and Caregiver Survey
We want to hear your thoughts!
Please complete this quick questionnaire about learning with digital technologies.
Click on this link Parent and Caregiver Questionnaire
Background: Owairaka has been on a journey of incorporating digital resources into a range of teaching approaches. We aim for a blended environment where staff and students have the option to choose the best resources for the learning at the time, whether it is digital or otherwise.
Ako Hiko: Is a cluster of eight schools who work together to create equity, raise achievement and offer opportunities to all our learners. The basis of the learning is the Learn, Create and Share learning model.
Research: The Woolf Fisher Trust, a research arm of the University of Auckland, send out these annual questionnaires to give feedback to the cluster about how the digital environment helps to learn. Woolf Fisher collects data from Year 4-6 parents as some of the other cluster schools have digital devices for all ages. The feedback we get from this survey will be specific to Owairaka as well as from the whole cluster.
We would appreciate if you could do this quick survey by Friday 24th May.

Today Room 7 students started Garden to Table. Half of the class cooked up a storm in the kitchen using ingredients from the school garden while the other half tended the gardens and learned about the various herbs, vegetables and fruits growing around the school.
The Vegetables group in the garden, and having pulled some radishes.
The Fruits group sampling the delicious vegetable soup they made. Fantastic pumpkin scones ready for eating.
