Garden to Table This Week

Room 24 had a busy day in the kitchen and in the garden this week.

We planted peas and zucchinis, harvested different coloured silverbeets and beans for our kai.

The Huawhenua group in the kitchen prepared tasty Thai-style
corn fritters with a sweet chilli sauce, Thai green curry with rice, and coconut black rice pudding with plums and toasted coconut. It was definitely as tasty as it sounds.

Visit our Garden to Table blog for all of these tasty recipes!

Garden to Table

Today Room 24 started their first Garden to Table lesson for the term. There was lots of weed pulling in the garden from the Huawhenua group while the Huarakau group cooked up a storm in the kitchen.

To finish off the lesson we all sat down together to enjoy the delicious kai of pita bread, yoghurt dip and a medley of vegetables followed by fig and honey cupcakes. Yum!!!

If any whanau members would like to come and help out either in the kitchen or garden on a Wednesday please get in touch.

A Great Start to the Year!

 Kia ora

We have had a great start to the year in Room 24 getting to know each other and welcoming our new students to the school.

To tie in with our over-arching theme 'In Our Back Yard' the students also went on a school-wide taonga hunt using clues to find lots of our school treasures.

Just a reminder that Room 24 will be swimming most days, so it is essential that students bring their togs and towels so they can develop their swimming skills.

A friendly reminder that all students should have a hat and a water bottle at school too.
