Spark Race Zone

The Year 6s were lucky enough to go on a trip to the Spark Race Zone in the city on Wednesday to experience the technology that Emirates Team New Zealand used to make their boat go faster.

Some of the activities included controlling and racing Spheros around courses, digitally designing and racing their own boats, having selfies with the crew of Emirates Team New Zealand, as well as the America's Cup, and sailing a virtual boat around the course.

Caught Being good - Week 8

Congratulations to Room 24's Milana and John for being this week's 'Caught Being Good' certificate receivers.

It is never easy getting up in front of your peers to present your learning. So, Room 24 was very grateful to have these two students share what they had learned about quails on a slide show.

Tino pai, Milana and John!

Caught Being Good Week 7

This week's two 'Caught Being Good' certificate receivers Floyd and Oliver demonstrated our school value of Manaakitanga. I was really impressed when they showed care and respect towards another classmate during learning time.

Congratulations, boys! Keep up the awesome work.

Garden to Table

There was some relocating of a garden bed, weeding, and potato planting in the garden during this week's Garden to Table session.

The boys looked like they were really enjoying themselves when they had to empty, tip over and then relocate the garden bed.   They definitely put in the hard mahi. Tino pai, Room 24!

Water Skills this Week

Every day this week, the children in Room 24 have been having swimming lessons with coaches and learning skills in drowning prevention.

Yesterday, it was all about helping someone from the shoreline, bringing them in using items you may have around you, and putting them in the recovery position.

Skills which are invaluable as we are all lucky enough to live in fairly close proximity to a beach in New Zealand.
